Thursday, April 13 at 7 pm @ the Trinity Episcopal Church on South Union Avenue in Alliance, Ohio

Program:  The speaker will be Jane Gramlich of the Special Collections Department of the Akron-Summit County Library.  She will present a program on finding immigrant ancestors between 1820 and 1890.  Members and guests are welcome.

Genealogy News: New Map of Canton in Genealogy

New Map of Canton in Genealogy

By Lauren Landis The Genealogy Department welcomed a new piece of Canton History last week. An aerial-view lithograph of Canton in 1884, entitled “The Panoramic View of The City of Canton, Ohio” is now on display.  The map is a replica of the original, which is held at the McKinley Museum. With the generosity of the Museum and financial support from the FOL, the map was duplicated, framed, and hung on the 2nd floor of the Main Library. Stop by to take a look, and see if you can find the site of the present-day Library and other Canton landmarks.
