Where Is It Now? Learn how to use various land records from the past to find where your ancestors property is located today.

In the Keller-Gallery: Mom What’s That? “Many items that used to be commonplace are now quaint nods to the past.  You might remember them, but do your kids know what they are?  This exhibition will feature artifacts from the late 20th century, such as rotary phones, typewriters, VCRs, and lots more!”

Program:  The speaker will be Jane Gramlich of the Special Collections Department of the Akron-Summit County Library.  She will present a program on finding immigrant ancestors between 1820 and 1890.  Members and guests are welcome.

The Alliance Genealogy Society: Genealogy Fair

“Are you unsure about how to research you family’s history? Are you looking for new resources to investigate your family tree? The Alliance Genealogical Society with be holding a Genealogy Fair on Saturday, May 9th in the library auditorium from 1-4 p.m.

There will be sessions on using Rodman Library’s genealogy databases, sources that can be utilized at the Stark County District Library, county courthouses, and more. T.A.G.S will also be selling books from the Alliance, Stark County, and Columbiana County genealogical societies.”

Happy New Year and thanks for stopping by this weeks SCDL Tree Talk Tuesday. It’s the first of the month and that’s when we like to give you a run down of upcoming Genealogy Programs both here and in the community for the month. So without further adieu here they are.

7 Jan. 2015: Share and Tell Session: Members will share a meaningful object or story from their childhood. Meeting will be held at the Lillian Beane Center 1711 16th St. S.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646

*Stark County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society:

8 Jan. 2015: A year in Review. Stop by and listen to all that the Society did last year and what we are looking forward to in 2015! Social time begins at 6:30 with refreshment’s and meeting will start at 7pm.

*Also, both the Ohio Genealogical Society and the National Genealogical Society Conferences will be coming up in the spring. Below you will find the dates of those events and you can find out more by clicking the links.
